Progreso is a beautiful port on the Gulf of Mexico. Located 16 miles (26 km) from Merida, Progreso is a destination for travelers looking for a unique Mexican vacation. Progreso has miles of sandy beach scattered with fishing boats and vacation rentals.
Progreso was founded in 1872 and enjoys a very simple and laid-back lifestyle. The white sand beaches and clear Gulf of Mexico waters make Progreso an ideal vacation destination. Visitors come Progreso to relax on the beach and enjoy nearby Colonial Merida, the cultural capital of the Yucatan Peninsula. Progreso is also close to the impressive Mayan ruins of Uxmal and Chichen Itza, and just 4 hours from Cancun.
Merida
was founded in 1542 by Spanish explorers who build the city's famous cathedral.
Merida has all the amenities you might expect from a large city including:
restaurants, varied nightlife, art galleries, theaters, American and British
consulates, and international airport, and more.
Since 1990, more tourists have been coming to Progreso to take advantage of its relaxing beauty and uncrowded beaches. Cruise boats now stop in Progreso's port as well. Many residents of Merida travel to Progreso to visit the beaches in the summer. Even though Progreso is a growing tourist destination, it has still retained its small town charm.
Chicxulub is a small and very quiet fisherman village located 5 miles
(8 km) from Progreso, Yucatan. Chicxulub is highly recommended for people
who love the sounds of the sea, lovely walks during sunset, and the benefits
of a total relaxation. Busses run two times a day between Progreso and
Chicxulub, and there are small vans called combis running between
Progreso and Chicxulub throughout the day.

Depending on the size of your group, you can chose between the 2 Bedroom
Casa Moni and 4 Bedroom Casa Pati. The houses are next to each other,
on the same beach.
From March to October the climate is hot and humid. The rest of the months the weather is warm with nice breezes. The rainy season is from July to October usually in the form of afternoon showers.
